Dark Souls 2 – Opinion and Tips

I’ve played Dark Souls 2 for 3 days now and I still progressing

whoever needs my help or you want to help me on my progress feel free to add me directly

I’m currently at lv 63/65 if i’m not mistaken

 

Well all of you may know soul series for it’s punishing death system which makes you want to throw your controller. Fear not as the dark souls is more forgiving than the predecessor Demon Souls because we have a check point system and its location is well-placed.

Character Creation

For me I just can make a handsome face lol but in dark souls 2 we can make a detailed characters

but hey dark souls is about death and closed helmet so just finish this thing already!

 

Starting Your Journey

I don’t want to spoil everything on a Quick Review so when you start your journey you’ll have some unlikely tutorial session which is placed on a tombstone

you need to read every tombstone to understand which button is for attack and etc so it’s kind of odd and I didn’t bother to read it in the first place I thought it was an ordinary stone.

You might want to try the first area before you proceed to the next area which you can go just by going forward. This game don’t have a quest system / guide you to where you should go instead you will go to some places with some enemies trying to take your souls again and again.

if you are a Dark Soul 1 player you are familiar with Estus Flask, you won’t start the game with it and also you won’t have a 5 stack of Estus Flask. you need to upgrade the Estus Flask with Estus Flask Shards which are spread around the world of Dark Souls 2

Leveling up is also different than the Dark Soul 1 which you can just go to the bonfire and select level up but in Dark Souls 2 you can only level up by meeting the Emerald Herald at your home-base Majula. Majula is the first area after the prologue part so don’t worry about it.

 

 

 

Key to Survival

1. Do not get Hit by anything as much as you can

In Dark Souls 2 , getting hits is not an option and as much as possible do not get hit or the enemy will strike you till near death/ even death.

2. Always put your eyes and guards on

If you are still a new player, put your shield on and whenever you walk always hold the guard button because they love to surprise you 🙂

also there’s many traps / holes in Dark Souls 2, even loot chest can kill you

3. Facing Boss?? Restore your Humanity and summon help!

you can always summon npc to help you on boss fight and its summon sign usually is near the mist before boss fight

make sure you are in human form and to become a human you need a human effigy.

To call help from players you can look for summon signs near the bonfire and look for the big summon sign

I don’t recommend to summon the one with a small sign because they have a time limit around 15 minute and it decreases faster every time you kill an enemy

Online Play

Online play in Dark Souls 2 allows you to come to your summoners world to help them finish the area

You can go online by transforming into human form and leave a summon sign with White Soap Stone.

Usually people will put their summon sign or even looking for one in a bonfire so if you are looking for help or even want to help just simply do those steps

Players also can invade another players world as their enemy trying to steal their soul

Summoning players have a calculation which is kinda complex so you can’t summon everyone and sometimes we can’t see every summon sign in the floor so if you’re trying to play with friends make sure you have a special spot so it can be easily detected and not all players can summon your friend.
